Fatehpur Sikri

This magnificant palace, and the city around it, was built in the 16th century by the Mughal emperor Akbar. It took 15 years to build but was abandoned after 14 years because there was not enough water to supply the population. I do not know how everything could be in such pristine condition over 300 years later.
